Barcelona is easily accessible from anywhere in Europe by airplane, which is often the fastest and the cheapest option. There are numerous companies which fly to Barcelona, but also to airports near Barcelona, which may offer lower prices.
However, it’s important to note that even though ticket prices to surrounding airports may be lower, transportation to and from Barcelona may offset the savings of the ticket. A return bus from Girona and Reus airports costs approximately € 25, - and a taxi will cost € 150. Additionally, the bus from Reus operates on a limited schedule, and may require you to wait long periods of time before you leave for Barcelona. Tickets for the buses may be purchased at the airport or the bus stations.
From the Barcelona El Prat airport a taxi costs approximately € 35 one way to most places in the city center, plus costs for the bags. The best option is the cheaper Aerobus, which runs every 5 minutes and costs about €5 each way. The aerobus connects the airport and Plaça Catalunya, which is located in the city center, but also stops at Pl. Espanya & the University. Finally, you can also take the train into the city directly from the airport. All you need is to purchase a metro card (a T-10 is usually the best option and costs about € 8 ) which allows you to use all the public transportation in Barcelona, including buses, the metro and trains.

However, if biking isn’t for you, there are other options. The buses and metro can take you close to anywhere you want to be within a few minutes, and they run from Monday to Thursday from 5:00 to 0:00, Friday until 2:00am and Saturday all night. You can purchase a T-10 card for about € 8, which allows for 10 trips on all the public transportation within Barcelona.
Also, the RENFE and FGC train lines are easily accessible and can quickly take you to exciting nearby towns such as Sitges, Figueres, Terragona, Blanes and more, for just a few euros!
